A Freedom To Love

Matt Knight

Off the heels of the 4th of July weekend, my thoughts are still on how blessed we are to have the freedoms that we have in this great country.  This morning those thoughts were overshadowed by the thoughts of the freedom we have in Christ.

John 8:36 says: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  The freedom we get once we place our trust in Christ for salvation is unmeasurable.  It is a freedom that is real for the here and now as we walk on this earth.  It allows us to love others freely – love others that differ from us in all different ways,  love others who don’t like or even hate us for our belief in Christ, love others who have wronged us in some form or fashion.

If you know me this isn’t the easiest thing for me to do.  (No need for any of you to call Lynn to confirm.) However, we are all called to “Love our neighbor as ourself”. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says “And now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love.  But the greatest is Love.”

How can we find a common ground to love each other through our differences?  What better time than in this season of turmoil in our world that we as believers show love to those around us for no earthly reason. A love that isn’t conformed to this world.  So that the seed of the Love of Christ may be planted in their life as we work together to Transform Texarkana for Christ. Have a great week!
